Background
Investment clubs are small groups of investors who pool their funds in an unregulated fashion to make larger investments and actively manage them by democracy.
The challenge in obtaining unbiased information on this subject lies in the fact that investment clubs are a convenient way for large, powerful, wealthy companies to solicit the sale of their stock directly to the public, without ‘interference’ from professional money managers or government regulation. The result is that the subject is overrun by investor relations departments of major companies.
In some cases, so-called consumer organizations have sprung up to offer help to investment clubs. Such organizations may be quietly financed by companies with ulterior motives – like selling their own stock. Such conflicts and ulterior motives brought about this blog. We invite your participation.
